(YCDC) joined project members and the board of Hilltop Consultants to celebrate a year of hard work and successful projects. | | | New Updated Mission Statement for Hilltop Consultants Apr 21 2009 | | | At the final board meeting of the year and on the heels of our 5th Year Anniversary, the Hilltop Consultants Voting Members decided to endorse a new updated mission statement. I have put the new mission statement below so that you all are aware of the change in language. Please be aware that the main operation and pursuits of Hilltop Consultants has not changed but instead we have condensed a 5 line mission statement to a 1 line mission statement. I have additionally put the old language below so that you can compare the two different uses of language. I hope that you find that the new mission statement is better and more concise for describing the main goal of Hilltop Consultants.
New Mission Statement: to deliver high-impact solutions to nonprofit organizations and develop future leaders by offering hands-on consulting experiences and professional training

Our guest speaker and presenter was Yolande Bornik, a JD-MSFS candidate at Georgetown University. A former Monitor Group employee, Yola has worked on a diverse group of cases including corporate, government, and non-profit clients. She assisted the Hilltop Consultants project teams with making their final presentation to their clients. Framing the message and organizing the presentation into a coherent package were some of the topics covered. | | | Hilltop Consultants host the 5th Annual Business Strategy Challenge Mar 1 2009 | | | Eleven teams of undergraduate students from highly reputable universities across the nation flocked to Washington, DC from February 26 – 28 to compete in the Business Strategy Challenge (BSC) case competition, hosted by Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. Once announced on Thursday evening as the 2009 BSC non-profit client, the United Way presented its business case to participating teams. These students had just thirty-six hours to prepare a strategy by which the United Way can continue to create measurable impact in our communities via health, education, and income initiatives in spite of the struggling economy. Students were understandably ready for Saturday morning’s first cup of coffee, having dedicated most of those thirty-six hours to research and preparation, and very few to sleep.
Following Saturday’s first round presentations, teams from Saint John’s University, University of Washington, and Georgetown University advanced as finalists to present a second time. Representatives from the United Way and esteemed local consultants judged the teams on criteria that included presentation skills, level of understanding of United Way’s business dilemma, as well as creativity and implementability of their strategic solutions. In the end, it was the Sunrise Consultants from the University of Washington whose innovative approach and impressive presentation captured first prize. Georgetown University’s Skyline Consultants took second, while Team Vincent from Saint John’s University placed third. The awards ceremony at the Holiday Inn Georgetown on Saturday, February 28, concluded the 2009 Business Strategy Challenge competition.
The BSC celebrates its fifth anniversary at Georgetown University and continues to work as an extension of Hilltop Consultants to fulfill its mission of serving the community while shaping undergraduates into future business leaders. The Business Strategy Challenge is the only live business case competition with a focus on serving non-profit organizations. The 2009 BSC was sponsored by RAFFA Consulting, KPMG, and Kadix Systems. Additional information on the BSC can be found at challenge.msb.edu.
