About Hilltop Consultants
Hilltop Consultants is a Georgetown University undergraduate student organization dedicated to advancing the goals of students interested in management strategy and consulting while also exposing others to the opportunities in these fields. The club is focused on providing skills training, networking, and recruiting opportunities related to strategy and consulting.
Established in 2004, Hilltop Consultants organizes student-led consulting projects to non-profit organizations in the Washington, DC area. As intellectually curious Georgetown students (with access to our past client work and university resources), we can provide nonprofit organizations with free business solutions that they might not otherwise be able to afford. We believe we can contribute worthwhile, original and constructive insight into a variety of different business problems facing these organizations. Our enthusiastic undergraduate student members have access to expert faculty and MBA advisors, professional consulting firm trainings, and an internal database of all our previous consulting work from which to draw on for our consulting projects. Our undergraduate consultants possess genuine interest in applying the knowledge and skills they developed in the classroom to our clients real world obstacles.
Consulting Services
The primary focus of Hilltop Consultants energies is on providing at-cost (typically around $300) or pro bono (based on financial need) strategic business solutions to local non-profit organizations. We bring teams of five undergraduate students together to work on semester-long consulting projects that are strategic in nature. The students volunteer their time and the only cost to client organizations is to pay for the resources necessary to actually carry out the project. Hilltop has the access needed to recruit students from the university and form a client team that will put in the effort, skills, creativity and knowledge to help solve the clients strategic obstacles. These students are carefully chosen and interviewed to meet the highest standards and ensure their interest and skills match the demands of the client.
The Business Strategy Challenge at Georgetown University
In April 2005 Hilltop Consultants helped Georgetown University become the first school in Washington, DC to ever host an inter-collegiate undergraduate case competition. The first annual Business Strategy Challenge was presented with assistance from the McDonough School of Business, Navigant Consulting, Bain & Company, and The Corp at Georgetown University April 6 - 9, 2005.
The 2005 competition was regional, targeted at seven schools with easy access to Washington, DC and the Georgetown University campus. The event served as the first step toward establishing a much larger, international competition in future years. In recent years, there has been an increase of the geographical regions represented at the BSC. In 2007, the three finalists included University of Florida, Georgetown and Washington State University, representing schools from the South, West, and East.
