Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCan)
The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) team was charged with improving the organizations action alert message system by identifying current action alert trends on the CapWiz software program. By applying data analysis, the team discovered strategies to improve current action alerts as well as new, innovative ways to mobilize potential advocates. The team first identified the stages in the lifecycle of an action alert, which allowed the team to narrow in on specific points of entry for improvement. To develop these strategies, the team benchmarked PanCAN action alerts against the action alerts of several organizations to determine best practices, including Habitat for Humanity, Save Service, PETA and State Farm. This process allowed the team to deliver recommendations for each stage of an action alerts life cycle, including donor profile development and tagline response rates. The team also developed a mobile phone application prototype and online community infrastructure recommendation. At the end of the semester, PanCAN won best team!

| Making Education the Answer (META)
Making Education the Answer (META) is an organization that seeks to inspire Hispanic youth to attend and complete college by offering $7500 scholarships to motivated individuals in the Southern California community. The META network provides mentorship to facilitate the transition to college and to ease the financial burden students face.
META approached Hilltop Consultants with the task of assisting them to leverage social media to attract a greater number of applicants. The first half of our project involved examining both small and large scholarship funds across the nation to formulate a plan for short-term and long-term applicant recruitment. With this research, however, we realized that META could use more than just social media to improve their current standing and ensure the sustainability of the organization.
Subsequently, for the second half of our project, we designed an integrated marketing strategy for META that addressed marketing to scholarship recipients as well as current and potential donors and finally, branding of the entire organization. Last we heard, META has already been implementing our final recommendations!
