Undergraduate Consulting Process
Hilltop Consultants strives to provide its project teams with immersive consulting projects and the training necessary to produce deliverables that can be implemented following the project. The projects are a semester long and each team contains about five members led by a Project Manager. As a member of a consulting project, you will find yourself dealing directly with the leaders of a non-profit DC organization.

After learning about their business issues, you will spend the remainder of the project devising solutions to be delivered to your client by the end of the semester. To aid you in the process we will provide the necessary training from both Georgetown professors experienced in consulting and on-campus visits and mentorship programs with prestigious consulting firms. Additionally, you will also have the support of the experienced Hilltop Board.

We hope to provide our project team members with unparalleled management-strategy consulting experience and to spread knowledge of consulting as a potential career-path.

How to Get Involved
During the beginning of a semester, there is a process for selecting project teams. Below is a typical time table for selecting the consulting teams:
  • Late August: SAC Fair: Come talk directly to the Hilltop Consultants Board members and learn first hand of our experiences and what our organization can offer you
  • 1st Week of September: General Membership Meeting – Learn in depth about Hilltop Consultants and what our projects will be for the coming semester
  • The Friday Following the General Membership Meeting: Applications due for Consulting Project Team
  • The Saturday/Sunday after applications are submitted: Interviews Begin for Consulting Teams – Interviews will be held on the 13th and 14th of September. The interviews consist of one round lasting for 10 minutes that will contain a consulting case that the interviewee will be asked to work through
  • The Monday after the interviews: Applicants Notified of Selection
The process is similar for selecting teams for the spring semester. Please check out the homepage for exact dates for our events. Also keep an eye out for Hilltop Consultants flyers and tabling in Red Square.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be in the Business School to be on a Project team?
Absolutely not, our Project Teams have members from all four Georgetown Schools. We encourage diversity in our team members and will not bias against an applicant based on his or her school or major.

Do I need previous experience in consulting?
We do not expect our members to enter projects with any prior experience. Our projects act as an introduction to consulting and we will provide you the training necessary to prove successful in them.

What requirements do I need to be considered for a team member?
We recruit from all years and look for outstanding individuals. While we will consider your academic record, we are looking for ways you have shown initiative and dedication to your past pursuits. Above all, we value creativity most in our Project Members.

Who is the usual client?
Our consulting projects deal with a wide-array of projects and there is no given mold. However, we will only consult for non-profit organizations in the Washington, DC, area.

What is the time commitment?
Each Project Member should expect to dedicate at least three hours a week to their project and the Project Managers should expect to dedicate about five. Additionally, there will be mandatory information and training sessions for Project Members.

Can I choose my Project?
In the application you will be allowed to indicate your preference for a project. However, the final decision comes from the board which will take into consideration your interest, skill-set, and any past experience to place you into the most suitable project.

What about expenses I incur over the course of the Project?
These expenses should be dealt with by the Project Manager who will receive reimbursement from SAC at the end of the semester.
